Part II:
Mentor Field Experience
Mentor Field Experience offers juniors and seniors a unique opportunity to observe and learn from a professional within their chosen career field. Mentors are matched with students to create a highly personalized, firsthand experience unlike the traditional high school setting.
Students are released from school early to obtain 40 hours of on-site observation of their professionals who serve as Mentors in corporate offices, hospitals, clinics, schools, courtrooms, government agencies and more. Mentors answer questions, offer guidance and lead by example in their professional careers. This independent learning experience culminates into the completion of a final project with the Mentor serving as a consultant or advisor.
Mentor Field Experience aims to prepare students to be professional in their oral and written communication while promoting self-directed learning and exceptional time management skills in preparation for college.
Juniors and seniors in Field Experience attend class once a week and meet with the Program Coordinator for professional communication and career coaching. Students are responsible for their own transportation to their mentor sites.
